If I were in the market, a 5-door GTI would be about the only thing that could lure me away from the Subaru I've began to covet.

The brand gained steam? And had garnered good will? Before this 3 all Suzuki ever had were tiny SUVs and a Metro clone. Basically that's like saying a rapist lost his standing in the community when he committed murder.

Is the Volt production fully ramped up? On sale in all states? I saw an article on Jalopnik that said there are over 2000 on lots.

With those numbers the Volt could be a Suzuki.

What is the reason for your distaste on this car/company? The powertrain. If it had a 90,000bhp V71 his pants would be permanently jizz-glued to his body.

As far as winter beaters go, look into 90's Subarus, can't go wrong there, they run forever.
