Return to Greatness
Where's the step that says GM should start making attractive cars again? Cuz, really, that should be like steps 1-19.

'08 Ion shelved?
Someone at Saturnfans.com said the '08 Ion has been shelved. Anyone know is this is true?

GM CEO Secures $4.6 Million Pension Despite LayOff
Maybe someone was trying to figure out who was leaking information to the media so they deliberately fed Josh's source some faulty information to see what would happen...

GM CEO Secures $4.6 Million Pension Despite LayOff
If UAW members get pensions for bolting cars together then certainly any person who heads GM, a multi-national, multi-billion dollar corporation, should get one as well.

Investors Say GM Must Off One Brand
Cananopie, my point is this: the way for a car company, or division of a car company, to generate interest in its products is to make their bread and butter vehicles interesting and alluring enough to buyers so that their is no need for a halo vehicle to try and bump up interest in the brand. These halo vehicles should be an afterthought and only made after a brand has its crap together. The Sky isn't going to make the Ion beautiful. The Corvette didn't make the Malibu's old front end not look hideous. The Solstice isn't going to make the proportions on the G6 coupe not look totally out of whack. For years GM has given its brands various halo vehicles in hopes that they'd increase interest in them and it hasn't worked.

Investors Say GM Must Off One Brand
GM needs another halo car like it needs more pension obligations. What the General needs across all its divisions are for their mainstream vehicles to be alluring enough so that they don't feel the need to prop up a division with some bright and shiny halo car. It's the equivalent of saying, "we hope you're distracted enough by this halo car to not notice that our other cars suffer from perpetual mediocrity". Chevy has the Corvette and SSR but that hasn't translated into people running en masse to buy the Malibu. Fleet sales don't count. Does Honda's roadster count as a halo car? Even if it does, Honda's had a very loyal following before they started selling it. How many halo cars does Toyota have?

Investors Say GM Must Off One Brand
Saab really should go. Maybe Chrysler could buy it so they'd have a division between Dodge/Chrysler and Mercedes. With Saturn's Euro, upscale move, courtesy of Opel, the 2 divisions will be positioned too closely together in the marketplace. Aura = 9-3. New Ion/Astra = 9-2. They're getting Lambda and Theta crossovers which are supposed to be great. Unless GM finds a new and very distinctive design them for Saab, which I honestly don't see happening, I don't see much point in keeping it. I do think there's a place for Buick at GM. The Lucerne is a good start for revitalizing the brand, though I do think the design is a little too conservative. What I'd really like to see would be for Buick to make cars that resemble the Opel Omega concept from a few years back and the Bently coupe. Their designs convey an upscale, somewhat conservative, solid image but are eye catching. It might be the combination of the high beltlines and seemingly low rooves that do it. Whatever it is, I see Buick when I think of those cars.

Buick Enclave is the name of the Lambda crossover
I like Enclave a lot better than Rendezvous which always seemed a little cheesy to me.

GM readies new round of incentives
If the Impala had a better nose it wouldn't need much of a rebate to sell.

Delphi Bankruptcy to cost GM 11 billion
Kirk wants to make some money back on his investment. He'll push for union concessions and probably a GMAC spinoff. That's how I see it.

Future of the Union
"Delphi’s high fixed costs — it claims to pay UAW workers $130,000 a year in wages and benefits — have become a greater burden because of production cuts at GM." "The UAW — which has secured a wage-and-benefit package valued at about $65 an hour for thousands of Detroit auto workers over the years" Wow...just, wow.

TCC unveils Yukon and Yukon Denali early!
Like the Cobalt and new Impala, this design is a little too bland for me. It's pretty good but "pretty good" doesn't haul in the conquest buyers.

What Computer You Runnin' On?
I custom built mine about a year ago. I never built one prior so I had to do a ton of research beforehand but it was worth it. It's been rock solid. Athlon 3000 1.5G memory I don't know the other specs - mobo, video card, etc. I'd have to dig them up.

I have got to try thos!
Ok, that is hilarious. But I can't help but think some cop would pull you over and give you a ticket for something.

If Zeta Came To North America Which Vehicles....?
G8 and GTO Camaro Impala Lucerne replacement, 4dr & 2dr The G8, GTO, and Camaro would be the first out. Pontiac needs the product and people are waiting for a Camaro. The big cars from Chevy and Buick, the Impala and Lucerene, just came out so they'd be last up for getting replacement cars on Zeta.

Union president in Canada says strike against GM p
If the CAW strikes can GM hire temporary replacement workers right away? I don't know how that works.

2007 Chevrolet Tahoe Pics and Information
Like everyone else here, I love the interior. It looks great, especially for a truck. I'm not real crazy about the exterior, though. There's not enough of an evolution in the design. In my opinion, this redesign just barely brings the Tahoe up to date. In just a couple of years I think it will already look old.

So what is it folks?
I think it's the Ion. Saturn's news "face" features a chrome bar at the top of the grill which the vehicle in the picture also has.
-
Brand Management
It doesn't cost GM much money to slap a GMC grill on a Chevy truck.

Toyota Trimming Auto-Development Time to 12 Months
A 12 month time frame is pretty mind boggling to me. I wonder what Toyota is doing differently than all the other automakers?
