3900 specs ?
That's another thing I thought about, but I didn't mention a possibly more restrictive exhaust since I was thinking about the engine alone, say on a dyno.

What is this?
what the hell is that?

Speedometer Malfunction
I'll get into the mantenance manual for my Impy and see exactly how many wires the speed sensor has.

Speedometer Malfunction
another idea is that the Vehicle Speed Sensor could have gone bad. And if its gone bad then you could easily have lost the signal to the speedo. Down on the side of the transmission the speed sensor should held in with a single bolt, should be two, maybe three wires. One will be a ground, (if there's three) one will be a reference signal, and one will be a variable (signal to the speedo). If you can get the car up in the air and get the wiring harness probed, put the car in gear and see if the variable signal changes.

name that engine
I was partially right, I knew it was a Buick-based enigne.

Wal-Mart Lingo
the only reason I try to stay away from Wal Mart is because well.....the damned traffic related to getting in and out of there. Its too much of a hassle. Meanwhile my wife ALWAYS wants to go there (I try to stay away as much as possible).

3900 specs ?
Its the only reason I could think is because with the lifter being heavier in the AFM engines, along with the electronics that control the AFM system, it makes the rotating mass of the engine heavier, which sacrifices a little HP.

Interior finish - minor repairs
Yeah, considering its not a tear (something that could be glued back together. Go scour your regional junkyards for a cover (one of the few parts I'd trust from a junkyard, but that's another story).

Normally DUI's aren't funny....
That's gotta suck.

Wal-Mart Lingo
Yeah, if I remember right a friend of mine (former Wal-Mart employee) said all the section checks that they call out aren't real.

3900 specs ?
Could one be the AFM version with the lower horsepower rating due to a heavier rotating assembly?

SRT and V
I'll take an STS-V, thank you very much!

name that engine
eh, true, the 215 was an aluminum engine.

Engine alternatives for Cobalt
I guess I just don't like anything under at least a 2.0L cut-off. Call me a little weird. I've got no problem with it making sufficient power and making good mileage, I just prefer something 2.0L and larger.

In Retrospect
I really think that Buick should have built that car. It looks good and I would like to see one on the road.

Dune action
that looked like a ton of fun.

4th Gen tune up?
Caprice, yank the EGR valve out of the way, you should be able ot get to them that-a-way. If you have to pull the plenum (upper intake manifold) and gain access by having it. If you've got a Car Quest in the area, I know we should have them. AutoZone should also have the gaskets and I can't knock their gaskets. Fel-Pro is a good brand and I haven't had any problems with the ones I've used in the past. Just make sure you tell whomever parts person you're dealing with to pull the gaskets.

Engine alternatives for Cobalt
I wasn't saying that the 1.9 was a weak engine, I was just thinking of something a little bigger in displacement.
-
name that engine
I don't think its a Buick 215, its definitely a Buick engine, but I can't tell much more than that. I know that Buick and some Dodges had the slanted distributor in the front of then engine, but I can't tell much more than that. (w00t 700th post!)

And now for a random moment...
Toyota sucks like a Hoover!

Chevy LT1 trivia
I can rule the ZR one out becuase it had a DOHC 5.7L engine, so no LT1 there....hmmm, I dunno on this one, unless we are talking Lingenfelter.
