2001 Oldsmobile Alero starting problem
All right. First question: How many miles are on the car? Second question: How long has it been doing this? Third Question: Did you have any work performed before it started doing it? Fourth Question: Got a CEL (Check Engine Light) or Service Engine Soon light on? Fifth Question: Does it do it primarily hot, or primarly cold?

4th Gen tune up?
I read a Chilton on those cars yesterday (sorry I didn't post anything) and they recommended getting the car up in the air because it is easier to get to some of the plugs.

2007 Cadillac SRX
I like it. It looks great. Now, if I could only afford one. Although I do have to agree that the wheels do look a little weak as compared to the rest of the vehicle.

Engine alternatives for Cobalt
I think something a little bigger than the 1.9 Diesel should be used, but its a good engine and I think it would also work in the Cobalt. As far as a CNG engine, I don't know of anyone around here who would use one, but it would be a good idea. E85 should definitely be offered, although again, down here (Alabama), there's not any E85 pumps that I know of.

Nissan & Toyota
I know there's already a thread about the panel dropping on the Toyota SUV's, but I was just watching the news (CNN American Morning), and I caught the blurb on the panel dropping on the SUV's. Another thing I caught is that the 2003 Altimas and Sentras are having some form of stalling problem. Can anyone give me some insight onto this one?

Cheesy movies...
Yeah, me and the wife both like Stargate SG1, although I don't like it as much now that they've changed casts.

Private Brand Oil
Oh I know. I was being a smart ass one day at Warner-Robbins when the B-1s were getting ready to head outbound. We were marshalling them (one of our "expeditions" with my ROTC unit while I was in college), and I told someone to stand behind one of 'em......Gee, lets think about this, a B-1B Lancer bomber, four afterburning General Electric engines, each producing about 35,000-lbs of thrust a piece, and I tell you to go and stand behind one.....brain damaged child....

4th Gen tune up?
Actually NOS, your Camaro should have had AC Delco platinum tip plugs which are "supposed" to be good for 100,000 miles (I've seen them last as little as 85k, or as long as 152k).

Or telling someone younger to go look for 500 yards of flight line when you're out on a flight line marshalling aircraft.

US: Toyota could face Scion recall
Wow, things are going to hell in a handbasket.

Toyota recalls 367,600 SUVs to fix flawed clip
No they aren't. Although I guess everyone has to have their bad share of months here and there.

My first job as the lead parts guy at AutoZone was to test what people knew. Namely water pump for a '69 Beetle normally showed me if they actually knew something or not. Nine times out of ten, they'd start looking stuff up, and I'd have to tell them to just stop, turn around, walk away from the parts counter, and go watch some more "training" videos in the back.

I like this. This recall, the investigation of Scion's moonroof. Then the other recall involving faulty steering components, then the recall about the airbag deal. Damn, things are really kinda falling apart over there.

Sorry to turn everyone off to AZ, but I felt that it needed to be known as a former employee.

4th Gen tune up?
Yeah, the manifolds that Chevy was nice enough to place onto the 3.8 in the F-bodies don't make any job easy on that car.

In Retrospect
I never saw anything about this one, but I do like the idea, although modernizing the powertrain would have to be a priority. I think that the styling of it keeps with what Buick currently is, so why not dust off the plants and build it?

Toyota turns off airbag cutoff switch in Tundra
I caught a blurb about the recall yesterday morning, but I didn't catch the news this morning, was there any form of follow-up?

Ideas for sketch competitions
YJ we could combine our two requests. make the new wagon also a replacement for the B-body.

Daves, one of the reasons I left AutoZone is because of hiring practices. All the people that came online in my last couple of months were just warm bodies. They knew nothing, nor did they give a crap, about cars or trucks or anything, so when someone needed advice, they had to come to me. I got sick of being the only "parts guy" in a parts store, so I left. I'm not sure if Wal Mart is going to make things worse or not, but since I'm no longer there, I don't really give a flying rats ass.
