Ford swipes at GM's troubles
Yep...on top of everything else and the massive deficits we are already running.

$14,140
The cobalt is a good little car. I haven't had any problems with mine after 19K miles and a year.

Zero Pe%cent Financing
I don't really think the interior is out of line with any other subcompact....at least in its price range....I did notice there is a big difference in the trims...like my LS is worlds better than the base model. Every manufacturer puts cheap brakes on their cars nowadays..just another cost cutting move.

Feb. 2006 Sales: Chrysler Group
Go to a local dealer and you'll find alot more than 1000 back. I've seen 4K on all but the Hemi models.

Ford swipes at GM's troubles
Eh whether or not people want to agree on it, the bankruptcy of GM and/or Ford would do serious damage to this country. Of course I guess that depends on what they would do in bankruptcy. I assume they would drop all the retirees and slash pay/benefits and lay off workers. Thinking of the millions of people that depend on GM and Ford for pay every month...its a scary though.

Detroit News: 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP Coupe Review
Oh please. The G6 has its share of flaws but apparently you and I have sat in completely different 2006 Civics. The one I sat in at the Chicago Auto show had cheap hard plastic everywhere. The design only made it worse...the "origami" styling you describe not only highlighted the existing gaps but added to them as well. It was much like the Fusion where it looks good in pictures but in person not only looks cheap but feels cheap. Ironically the Accord suffered the same fate too. The G6 has plenty of interior problems...but please don't use a overrated car riding on its name ala Civic as an example of how we should design and build cars.

I dunno what you got, but I've had zero problems with my Cobalt after 19K miles. No creaks, rattles, brakes are perfectly fine. Hasn't had a trip to the dealer yet.

Edmunds Generations: Chevrolet Small Cars
First place was the Sentra...I guess that shows you what doing nothing to a car for 6 years will do.

Feb. 2006 Sales: Toyota Motor Company
No actually that would still leave them with 5. FJ Rav4 4Runner Highlander Sequoia For such a "green" company, that's a whole lotta SUV's

Detroit News: 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP Coupe Review
The G6 has some legitimate complaints (like every other car), but most of the stuff they discuss is purely subjective. Either way...if someone lets a vague and poorly written article like this sway their opinion much then they probably aren't very intelligent.

CR Biased-No Not At All
CR is garbage...their unscientific method of surveying makes CR worthless.

So Toyota needs 6 SUV's?

GM small cars
I was shocked by the amount of hard, cheap plastic in the civic interior. Not only did it feel cheap...it looked cheap. The dashboard looked like it went on for an eternity. I've already said the interior design is nasty before. I really see no reason to buy it over any other subcompact. The cavalier was pretty crappy. It probably ran for a long time though. The addition of the ecotec in 2002 was a gigantic improvement as its probably one of the best 4 bangers around. The fact that it was dirt cheap probably helped alot. I don't think the Cobalt is class-leading...but it is more than competitive.

GM small cars
The cavalier was garbage....I've never been impressed with the current Corolla...and I was thoroughly unimpressed with the new civic at the auto show. I'm convinced that both cars sell more on their name than anything else.

Feb. 2006 Sales: Nissan North America
Fleet sales...at least here. The local enterprise carries almost exclusively Toyota and Nissan products.
-
Feb. 2006 Sales: Hyundai Motor America
I was impressed with the Sonata at the auto show. On the other hand I was horrified by the Elantra and Accent...who buys those things? A/C is an 800 dollar option on those things...800 bucks.
-
Feb. 2006 Sales: General Motors
Even if overall sales were up, you just know the "fleet sales" people would chime in.
-
Feb. 2006 Sales: Toyota Motor Company
Toyota car sales were actually down. Looks like Rav4 sales are already cannabalizing the Highlander with non-hybrid sales down 4K units....who didn't see that coming. The Rav4 and IS300 are really the only positives out of it. I bet the Camry had a big fleet month with the new one coming next month.

GM small cars
My experience with japanese small cars hasn't given me a very good reason to buy them over my Cobalt.
-
Toyota, GM Partnership Nears End
I have no idea what that is...since I'm not from Canada.
-
Pontiac G6
I'm more referring to mainstream japanese vehicles. Acura does have some nice interiors but I don't care for Lexus or Infiniti.

Can Tundra overcome Domestic loyalty?
The question nobody seems to answer is whats going to happen to Toyota's current fans of the conservative Tundra when they try to go all macho...its quite possible they will lose some repeat sales there.

HYUNDAI AZERA
Copying other cars makes the car look cheap. Look at the Kia Amanti...tried to copy several different car manufacturers and it just ended up looking cheap. This is completely different from copying an old design of your own. Sure it still shows no design creativity..but at least you are copying yourself.
-
Pontiac G6
No I'm like that too. Interior materials aren't much of an issue for me...design is much more important. This is generally the area where japanese cars flop in my book.

Pontiac G6
I didn't see it or feel it...and I sat in them all within an hour's time.
