98,000 Chevy Cobalt sedans Recalled
Sounds like my car doesn't fit the criteria at all, as it's a coupe with curtain air bags. And, I wear a seat belt.

NAIAS Attendance Down Again
Is it possible that there are fewer enthusiasts in Detroit now than there were four years ago?

Hmm, I didn't get a very good look. I spent the whole time staring at the Saturn Outlook ad.

Creepy commercial....
At least the Harley Earl commercials used a live-action actor. And the KFC commercials from a few years back used a hand-drawn cartoon version of Colonel Sanders. But this isn't right. I must refer again to the Uncanny Valley. Congratulations, Orville Redenbacher. You have just repulsed millions of people.

Why People Don't Buy Cars
Now now, there's no need to kill anyone over this. Besides, unless this man is a living Charles Montgomery Burns, there's a good chance he'll be done writing before the start of the next decade...

Choppin' Competition #33 - (2008 Chevy Malibu) Voting
I think NOS should have submitted his SS-inspired tail. Not that I would know how to render it from a 3/4 angle...

What's your computer's specs?
I just purchased a new laptop this Sunday, and I've been working off it all week. It sure as hell gets the job done. Specs from the sticker -- Brand: Acer Aspire 5050-5554 CPU: AMD Turion 64x2 Mobile TL50 (1.6 GHz, 256KB L2 cache) Screen: 14.1" WXGA Acer CrystalBrite LCD Video: ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 HDD: 120GB (probably 5400RPM) Media: DVD-Super Multi double layer (support DVD+R Double Layer/DVD+-RW) RAM: 1GB DDR2 Network: 802.11b/g wireless LAN, 10/100Mbps ethernet port as well Additional laptop goodies -- - Built in web cam, microphone - 3 USB ports - VGA, S-Video out - Telephone port (why bother) - Bluetooth Accessories -- - Targus Numeric Pad - Laptop riser with swivel pad - used Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse (right mouse button broke on me yesterday... ) My desktop PC is the result of over 15 years of upgrades. The processor is far inferior to that on the laptop, but otherwise it's a much more capable machine with a much faster HDD and game-capable graphics. Although, the graphics card is overdue for an upgrade. Specs as I know them -- Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz 533MHz FSB 1GB DDR-400 RAM ATI Radeon 9800SE w/ 128MB VRAM 74GB Western Digital Raptor (key feature is 10,000RPM) 8MB Cache 120GB Maxtor 7200RPM (on the throes of failure) DVD+-RW drive Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value 300W Power Supply Peripherals -- Dell 1905FP 19" LCD monitor Altec Lansing 5.1 Surround Sound speaker ensemble Logitech S510 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse

Honda and Acura vehicles said to overstate mileage by up to 4%
Dude, where are you getting your info? Whatever the EPA states, the automakers have to use. There's no fudging of the numbers involved. Assuming that there is a problem with Honda odometers especially, and assuming that the manufacturers use the car's odometer to get the MPG rating, I can see carman21's point. An inaccurate odometer could make a significant difference in MPG rating. And if Honda's odometer records more miles than actual, then it's going to have a higher perceived MPG.

Another pushrod engine dead?
Does LZ4 include both the 3500 and 3900 or is it just the 3500? Also, don't forget there are still 3800s floating around in the Buick division...

I wish I started it at a higher res. Its native resolution was 1280 x 800, but there isn't much distortion in the resize.

Repairable?
Not only should you burn another CD, but you should put more stuff on there, too. Look at all that wasted space! A lot of popular musicians record 10-12 2-4-minute songs and call it an album. I bought the first Linkin Park CD. The thing didn't even last the duration of my 45-minute commute. That's not an album... That's a demo tape.

Chrysler Nassau Concept
aaaantoine replied to mustang84's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)I dunno... December numbers for Chrysler are mysteriously missing. In November the Caliber did 7,008 sales, putting it at #4 for Dodge and #12 for corporate volume. It's not nearly as sluggish as the Magnum at 2,138 sales, but it's not doing the volume that a compact car typically does. Compare to the Cobalt's 10,514 sales and the Civic's mammoth 20,143 sales for that same month.

New Year Car Spotting
I've already seen a few Silverados on the road this month. Also on the Island I saw a bunch of CR-Vs. Fortunately, they blend in rather well. No Lambdas yet.
