Big deal. The LaCrosse has the same stupid headlamps. The Lucerne's headlamps look pretty much the same, but I can't really tell for sure on those. Not really worthy of the camo in my opinion.

Front end, ugly. Profile, Nissan Altima Coupe Rear, Gorgeous. Interior, amazing. Nice, but really needs work and TLC.

I hate the droopy character line and the BMW 3-Series coupe style tail lamps, but I love it. It's an Audi Coupe that's not a TT.

Very good and very true article. Why was Chrysler doing better than Daimler in the 1990's? Lots of reasons, but I humorous statement goes as: All Hail the Five Pointed Star. Five is ALWAYS Greater Than Three. Duh!!

I agree. Just demerge it and forget about it. Chrysler was worse off at the start of the 1980's then they are now. The minvan saved their bacon then, and I have a feeling that the minivan could save them again. Sure, there is less of a market, but when you OWN that market, things should look okay. I wonder if there'll be a lawsuit over this. There should be.

FOG, as long as they knew what they were doing, that is the option I would most prefer. And, Chrysler has their new minivans to help support themselves.

I would agree that it looks better as a hatch and that the little sail windows are probably the cause of its oddness. Overall, I don't mind it at all. It IS a little better looking than the Aveo and this does have AWD, but the Aveo is undoubtedly a bit more efficient. My vote? Stick with the hatch.

So? Transmissions? Yeah, one. The five speed automatic, and its built under license, so as long as the contract lasts, Chrysler has access to them. They have the four speed, and the new six-speed and I am sure that there is something else in the pipeline. Chrysler is playing an important part in the design of said engines, and I am sure that they are more than well underway in development. They're as much Chrylser's as are the GEMA engines co-developed with Hyundai and Mitsubishi or the GS platform (or whatever it's called) that underpins the Sebring, Caliber, Compass, Patriot, Avenger, Lancer, Outlander, next Galant and whatever else there may be.

The Pacifica is quite lovely and smooth compared with everything else, and its interior is light years ahead of any top of the line 300.

What bull$h! (to me of course). It is not better to let Chrysler go out of business. I mean, when GM was facing bankruptcy just last year, would you say the same? There are identical loyalties to each individual company and a true Chrysler (Mopar) fan wouldn't really go for anything else. I myself am tossed up between Chrysler and General Motors. I grew up principally with GM products (GMC, Buick, Chevrolet, Pontiac) but my grandparents on my dad's side have always had Chrysler products since I was around, and I'm not sure why, but I preferred Chrysler's products then, and (though not as much and the list has diminished greatly) I prefer them today. In a semi-related tale, when I was 5 and younger, I called Chrysler products "Red Rose Cars" and I still don't know, but interestingly enough, when I got into growing roses, I discovered one called Chrysler Imperial. It really fascinates me... I mean, would you GM nuts really consider attaining a Chrysler Corporation product? There you go. We need to look at things from all sides, not the "Well, I like GM and don't care for Chrysler, so it's best to let it die completely". What Chrysler needs is to be fully independent and American controlled. God. Help us that care. Chrysler needs out help.

As a whole, current Chrysler styling is terrible. Their line-ups from the mid to late 1990's looked infinitely better and not as cheap. It's sad really.

The sooner the Astra arrives, the better.

I voted all of the above. It seems like all too often that when it comes to regular production automobiles, the domestic automakers seem like the blind man in the dark basement trying to find a black cat that isn't really there. Although health care, benefits, and the old people cost a crap load of money, there are many other issues that go along with this.

Ha! I do not find anything sexy about the CL. It's bland, bloated, and with a very dear price. Couple that with an unattractively designed albeit quality made interior, and I can think of other things I could spend my imaginary money on. Plus the electronics. We all know how great those will be.

Exactly. Those are the only vehicles that are made in Europe or are essentially carbon copies of Mercedes-Benz products. Chrysler's current portfolio is more based on co-developed Mitsubishi architectures than anything else. I say go for it. Chrysler survived the 1970's and 1980's for God's sake. As if the gloating buffoons in Stuttgart gave Chrysler all that much anyway, Iacocca I believe has said that if he new Robert Eaton was going to do this to Chrysler, he never would have relinquished leadership of the company... I agree that Daimler shouldn't have purchased Chrysler. Lord knows Mercedes hasn't done anything for them at all, really. Did you know that Eaton was earning something along the lines of like at least three times a year as Jurgen Schrempp at the time of the buyout?
