Mercedez Benz News Mercedes-AMG Announce Two All-Electric Performance Saloons, Is It The Best or Nothing?
@smk4565-Btw, the best or nothing EQS and EQE have top speeds of 130. Tesla Model 3 goes to 162 and the Model S goes to 171. Which company really has the bigger issue here?

Then you clearly haven’t read any actually reviews. Oh and given that going 99mpg would be illegal in this country, I’d say most folks don’t give two $h!s. Color choices, or lack thereof, do not a bad car make. You can always add different color choices over the next few years. It’s sure a hell of a lot cheaper than having to go back to the design drawing board on a $100K+ Benz disguised as a 2013 VW CC, only with a far worse view over the hood (a common complaint on both the EQS and EQE). Try again.

Sounds like there needs to be a search setting prioritizing higher wattage chargers.

Mercedez Benz News Mercedes-AMG Announce Two All-Electric Performance Saloons, Is It The Best or Nothing?
Looks better than any EV from Benz and it has been well reviewed overall so saying it is a “bad car” is factually wrong and just sour grapes posting since you can’t reasonably defend that polished turd that Benz produced.

Mercedez Benz News Mercedes-AMG Announce Two All-Electric Performance Saloons, Is It The Best or Nothing?
It’s sad when the superlative for the best or nothing is that at least it’s the “largest”. Most luxurious is subjective as hell, especially when it sits inside an ugly jellybean shell. The E Tron starts at $65,900, putting it in the same range as the much uglier (and not near as luxurious at its base price) EQE. Stop using the top of the line GT example to sugarcoat the ugliness that your favorite brand produced for supposed mass consumption.

Both lol (to your first questions). Just finding parts to make them run would be worse than finding a needle in a haystack and the costs would be through the roof. My dad owned his TR7 between 1987-89 and I remember one of gripes was the cost of a master cylinder being $700. It spent more than half of its two year stay in his garage and he finally gave it the boot. Could not give me one with literal money on the hood.

You do realize, that while you're trying to have that "gotcha" moment with ccap, that the answer to both is the same right? Way to misconstrue but look at the line I quoted from you. In that same 3 months and ONE incident, dealerships across the country have been getting warned by manufacturers about price screwing their customers and have been doing far worse than that during the SAME 3 MONTHS. That "one" remark also show that you are using a very small sample pool there while I can pull up endless articles and tales of dealerships being scumbags.

My dad's 1977 Nightma..I mean TR7. He had this for less than two years before he dumped it and bought a '74 Porsche 914 (a much better car). After that nightmare...

Oh good grief. It's still technically a random thought people. Let's not get all "Bill Wise" over it. In yet another case of "When you just fell like setting your money on fire" (and sadly I know this all too well because my dad once owned a 1977 TR7)... https://greensboro.craigslist.org/cto/d/high-point-red-1980-triumph-tr7/7452966452.html

I'm not ignoring anything but you seem to be, at this point, as they corrected the only wrong out of this (pricing for reserved orders prior to March 1st). And they don't have any other stores but that is 100% irrelevant because: A)-What happened at Rivian is FAR less common than the thousands of cases of deanships screw overs that occur on a monthly basis and have been for decades. B)-They do have other choices even if they don't have other stores which is dumb argument anyway because, again, you are not buying from them anyway and clearly it's a model for a lot of folks these days who are tired of what I mentioned in A) If you don't how A.) has led to this, then I don't know what else to tell you. Yet not one thread, on your behalf, detailing the far encompassing problems with them, problems that are far worse and have been going on for FAR LONGER than this one incident by Rivian, hence my original "clickbait' remark about this thread. Which problem do you think affects more buyers? Rivian raising their prices this week or dealerships doing worse than for more than a half century now? But his salesperson was honest so it doesn't matter to him that much apparently. Now companies like Rivian, of which he has no intention of even being a customer, are the real problem because of this fantasy that direct models are the devil while the current status quo of dealership screwing is heaven on earth.

Maybe share that level criticism with those dealerships you are so ready to defend at a moments notice. That’s all I’m saying and again, much a damn do about nothing, for now.

Very true and they need to reassure their customers that they will be more forthcoming about future price increases without burning preorder buyers and such.

So they saw their mistake and fixed it, thus (for now) killing this much ado about nothing (again, for now).

Like I said, it is a screw up on Rivian part but including IPO issues is stretching the initial claim by Balth a bit though. That is, sadly, a more common practice than folks are aware of and certainly no unique to Rivian (IPOs, that is). Fact is though, that Balth has been beating this drum for months while ignoring or defending similar and sometimes worse practices at dealerships because they are not happening at his dealership so it really doesn’t matter to him, it seems.

And here we have those wonderful dealerships trying to claim lease cars from customers when their leases run out instead of letting customer offer to buy/finance it. Yeah, great option there from those mean OEMs. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/09/28/business/ag-advises-its-illegal-advertise-one-price-vehicle-then-charge-another/?outputType=amp

You don’t get to do that SMK. You had no clue about the $20K which (as Drew pointed out) is certain trim packages. Don’t act like you had foresight here when you didn’t. And please keep defending the $h! practices of dealerships, practices that have been proven to you time and time again so that you can deflect to OEMs like Rivian and make exaggerated claims of “bait and switch” while dealerships have literally been doing that very same thing (in one fashion or another) for decades. Again, refer to Ford and GM putting their dealerships on notice…or just ignore it like you’ve done up to this point. https://www.autocheatsheet.com/car-dealer-scams/bait-and-switch-car-dealer-scam.html And even after being warned by Ford, some dealerships are still being dirty but hey, we need them right? https://tfltruck.com/2022/02/report-2022-ford-lightning-bait-and-switch-a-dealer-is-still-charging-a-markup/ And just one google search on “car dealership bait and switch” reveals shots like this, Again, for the fourth time, what Rivian did was dumb. They let people reserve these trucks based on price estimates made almost three years ago. Some important things, like rampant inflation and COVID, have happened since then. Now, if they keep doing this, then there is a Tesla issue here. However, this is way more overblown than Balth wants to make it out. Show him the exact same practices done by dealerships, and he will say something like “well, I got a great deal at my dealership” like that discounts what happened at other places. Sorry, but maybe it’s best to let this one play out a bit before jumping to the gun crucify something you had no interest in buying in the first place.

Opinion: Kia Needs a Luxury Brand
As someone who has had ownership time in both a Plymouth and a Kia, I will respectfully disagree with your comparison.

So now it's $20K and not the $11,495 and $14K that you, yourself, posted? And damn. I said I was done earlier with this clickbait and had to go back and look. I have made my point though and I 10000% standby the fact that this much ado about nothing.

Rivian MSRP's see stratospheric jump
Not apples to apples but I guess you didn't read the article I posted. Over the summer the average new car price was $40K and now it is $47K. That is almost a 20% jump in that time but you want to find fault in Rivian? Seriously? You're doing Mercedes fans proud with the cherry picking. Again, refundable deposit for non-financed buyers (and those financed buyers keep the original price) and they can find something else, perhaps a Ford Lightning that is bigger yet cheaper than the Rivian. Yes, much ado about damn nothing. So now it's $20K and not the $11,495 and $14K that you, yourself, posted?

Rivian MSRP's see stratospheric jump
Tesla maybe but you are selectively ignoring why the price jump happened in the first place which again, has affected all makes. Rivian miscalculated and will honor the original price for those who have already started the financing. The rest have been giving options to get their deposits back. And spare me this direct buy nonsense when dealers have their own price gouging tactics that you seem to ignore. Also skip the invention of the “no haggle” dealership model started under GM (when Saturn came out) that many dealerships still use today. Again, this is much ado about nothing IMO.
-
Rivian MSRP's see stratospheric jump
Yeah because dealerships have sure been in the “negotiating” mood for the last two years lol. Must be why companies like GM and Ford have threatened various dealerships for their “negotiating” tactics. Seriously flawed logic you have going on here Balth.

Maybe it’s the fact that everything else, including all ICE cars have gone up as well. This article only confirms that Rivian is facing the same issues as everyone else. Sorry but this is nothing more than a clickbait thread to try and single out an EV maker while ignoring the world around it that affected the change in question here. Just going to leave this right here is bid this thread farewell. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a38748092/new-car-average-sale-prices-47100/

Mercedez Benz News Mercedes-AMG Announce Two All-Electric Performance Saloons, Is It The Best or Nothing?
Same here. This from the Greensboro, NC dealership I spoke of earlier. This is not a $105,900K car, on looks alone. Not on the outside and, with this trim, not on the inside either. https://www.mbgreensboro.com/new/Mercedes-Benz/2022-Mercedes-Benz-EQS-0f9876620a0e09b121c5b7df30e164fe.htm

Mercedez Benz News Mercedes-AMG Announce Two All-Electric Performance Saloons, Is It The Best or Nothing?
That's called an E-Class so there was literally no reason for Benz to make such a hideously boring car on the outside, in the case of their EV sedans. I would honestly be pissed if I were a current Benz owner, looking to make the move from my ICE "Best or nothing" to something that absolutely does not look like the "best or nothing". This would literally be unacceptable from any other make so Benz does not get any kind of pass for screwing up the FIRST thing someone sees when they hit their dealership lots. If you took the Benz emblem off that grill, you would never know it was a Mercedes and that is a problem IMO.
