  1. I've found that to be true of large displacement V8s as well. In trucks over the years I've noticed that quite often a big block will get about the same MPG as a smallblock in the same truck. 350 = 454 6.0 = 8.1 And so on.
  2. Nice writeup, great presentation. As for the car, it has drawbacks that shouldn't exist at that pricepoint. That's my instant take on it.
  3. To each his own. I look at cars like the 140 and think kit car.
  4. Happy Birthday!
  5. My guess is that you are close to the truth. I have my doubts that ZR-1 will return on the C7.
  6. Too much - that simple. And I love the design.

I can't think of a single desirable option is that whole category. The whole segment is frumpy as a middle-aged housewife.
  8. I certainly agree with you on the powertrain question, Dwight. We part company on the design front. I agree with a description of the 140 I read a few days ago. The writer described it as "an atomic doorstop". I really dislike it, FWD , mid-engine, or RWD - it would still be a doorstop.
  9. Suffice it to say that only three small cars have risen to the level of "do want" in my mind in the last decade or so. This hypothetical shooting brake, the Buick Avant concept, and the Solstice coupe. That's the sort of design required to interest me in small cars.
  10. If the exchange rate is good enough for the SS, it is good enough for the Ute. And, if the 130 had a bed, it would be microscopic. Nah, I'll take the shooting brake Nomad instead.
  11. Two presidential bloody noses is usually enough for any candidate to take a zero on the next round. But all of that is really beside the point if mis-information about Jeep is still being bandied about. dfelt is right, this is journalism 101.
  12. Possible. But the utility would be miniscule. An El Camino version of the SS sedan makes much more sense. I'd much rather have this as a shooting brake than a mini-mini-pickup. Dogs are ppl too. But they fit nicely in cargo areas.
  13. I don't know about all of that, but this would be a far more useful bodystyle for me than a coupe, convertible, or sedan. I like the coupe, but I could really use this. Plus, it looks great. EDIT: I haul stuff, not people.
  14. Well, I read through Via's entire site and watched all of the videos. Lutz and the company are onto something with this, but mostly as a fleet vehicle. The cash outlay is just too much for the public to stomach at this point. If the price can be ratcheted downward from the $79k they now charge, it might be another story. Until then, CNG makes so much more sense to me.
  15. I have also seen a convertible chop, but it didn't come off quite as well.
  16. Here is a Hot Rod magazine photoshop of a 130 "Nomad". I love it!
  17. Hmmm..... 130 Panel Photoshop, please!
  18. Have a great one!
  19. Not horrible, but nothing too exciting either (especially at over 20k where the auction now sits). Despite the claims, I don't see any historical significance to this car. It's just a home-built custom - albeit not a bad one.
  20. I also may have conquered a long-term problem with the interior lights. From the time I got the green Tahoe, I have had to use the dome override switch to make the interior lights go out. About a week ago, I got a new door switch for the driver's side and that seemed to fix it for about a day. I was annoyed, but not all that surprised, that the problem came back. So I did a little process of elimination and determined that the barn doors seemed to be where the trouble was. So, tonight I also cleaned the contacts on both barn doors, and dabbed a bit of grease on all of the connections. So far, that seems to have done the trick.
  21. Took Green down to the race car shop tonight and put it up on the lift. First I did an oil change and then moved on to my punchlist. This Tahoe once had some sort of pushbar on the front , and some previous owner cut the chin spoiler to install it leaving it in three sections. One of those sections has been MIA for some time now, leaving the front of the truck looking a bit dopey. The front tow hooks were also missing when I bought it. Lucky for me, These exact parts had to be removed from Red to install the snowplow. So I removed the old pieces of spoiler, yanked the ugly license plate mount, and removed the "chrome" trim piece from the bumper rub strip. Then, I installed the two tow hooks, and gave the bumper a quick clean and polish. The bumper has a minor kink in it, and I had to persuade it to flatten out at the bottom edge so that the spoiler could mount flush. That took some time and effort, but I got it to cooperate enough to mount -up the spoiler. I think Green looks much better up front now. I forgot to get a shot of the completed door hinges, I'll do that next time. EDIT: You can also see the spanky-new tires in these shots.
  22. Looks like it could be a rail conversion to me.
  23. Been giving this a bit more thought here and there, and I think that the 130 really is analogous to the old Nova. Or, maybe it is more of a distillation of what Nova was, and what Vega tried to be. A neat little package that can provide decent performance and looks at an affordable price, while being economical to run. The more I look at the car, the more I like both the styling, and the concept behind it. I think it could be a real winner for Chevy.
  24. Heading out to spend a few hours on this tonight, should have a few pics afterward.
  25. Spied this in my travels today: Gorgeous machine.
