Now what's interesting, I understand the Suzuki Forenza and Chevy Optima are built in different factories. Chevy claims it doesn't have the quality issues that Suzuki is with the Forenza. Almost identical Chevy Optima sedan:

Yes but the Edsel was controversial because the centre grill looked too much like an intimate part of the female anatomy....some say that is the actual reason it was not successful. It's up for debate if the Tribecca has the same effect on people...well, maybe.....depends..lol.

I notice this Solstice has different wheels with the Pontiac emblem on them, yet it's not on their option list.

Northstar, I feel the same, didn't think white would have this impact. I think when there is enough chrome touches and the sparkle of the headlights, great wheels and a sexy shape like this, white can look very good. And on a bright sunny day white can really shine. I had a white Corvette and it looked especially good on hot, bright days. A trio of Solstice colors:

They failed to mention it is a rebadged Daewoo. Also marketed as a Chevy Optra in Canada. Suzuki reportedly is not happy with the quality of this vehicle.

I hadn't seen the new Pontiac Solstice in white. It looks good to me. Of course this car seems to look good in any color.

Mallet is offering a 400 hp version of the Pontiac Solstice for 2006 of which only 100 will be built. This will be one outrageous Solstice. Can't you just see a Solstice coupe, factory equipped with a V8 and called a Firebird?...I can. I hope. http://www.mallettcars.com/solstice-conversion.htm

I was reading an article recently reporting how po'd Suzuki is with the Daewoo cars they are marketing as Suzukis...they cited major quality problems and it has brought Suzuki down in reliability ratings.

The Chevrolet Uplander is available as a swb as well in Canada. I find they look better proportioned than the extended ones but of course not as practical. At one time the swb was the predominant van on the market. Plus, they are less expensive.

The'79 Century/Regal fastback coupe is another interesting Buick. It hasn't always been well recieved.

Oh man, please no more Holdens here...they need to update, their cars are very dated. And that photo does not look very 'down under'...not very Australian. I saw one here the other day, a new Chevy crewcab 4wd truck police vehicle. Looked very butch. Here's what we need,

.....and the Omega sedan, that Holden body is everywhere...it just won't go away. It was already dated when it was a GM Catera.

Balthazar, I discovered that the silver streaks on the hoods of the '56 were further apart than those on the '55s.

The 56 Chevy comes across as considerably different than the 55, although I agree they are quite close. The 55 and 56 Pontiacs are virtually the same, visually.

Cremazie, those Rockies in that area are some of my favorite places on the planet....absolutely stunning scenery.

Canada has a long history and association with GM and Buick. Early in automotive history, the McLaughlin was a Canadian auto company who produced early cars in Canada. It's a very interesting story, but in a nutshell, eventually after a meeting of McLaughlin and the head of GM, eventually McLaughlin used Buick engines and platforms for their cars. It is what eventually become GM Canada. So, I think Buick has a deep resonance with people in that area of Ontario because of these ties. Just a theory. Here is a very early McLaughlin Buick:

An interesting note regarding the 1955 and 56 Pontiacs in general..for some reason they were almost identical...virtually no changes. The only thing changed from what I can see were the silver streaks on the hood and some chrome details on the side. It's curious in a time when vehicles changed annually that it was a carryover. The Chevy Bel Air had all new sheet metal in '56.

Sixty8, I thought you or Balthazar would get it quick...was going to camo it but thought I'd leave it as is. And I agree, this is a stealthy stunner. It has a stance and presence much like luxury marques of the 1930s.
