I really hope they change the name back to Golf by then. I've heard they are already doing so for the Canadian market.

Well, I am rather sure that this won't hurt GM in the least considering that they don't have anything from Suzuki to sell, and Suzuki only has their XL-7 and the 3.6L engine from the deal, so as long as it helps GM, why not!

I agree. I had a 1996 Plymouth Breeze. It was great looking (colour was medium fern; a grey green; that always looked best on a dank, damp day) and was fun to drive. It was also quite efficient; averaging 28 mpg with my heavy foot while my new Volkswagen only averages 25 mpg. It only had 68000 miles on it when I attained it, and had over 125,000 miles on it later when I finally had to give it to "car heaven". Ugh. I must say, it was perfectly acceptable reliability wise. Never left me stranded and never had some catastrophic failure because it "was a Chrysler". Only age related issues. Hell, the AIR CONDITIONING still worked. I disagree that Chryslers are (were) generally inferior products. My experiences with two Chryslers were fantastic.

I love Chrysler's better polarizing designs, the Cab forward cars and LX's. God bless Chrysler for not being as mainstream as everyone else.

Gosh, unless it's as sweet as a Mini Cooper or offers all wheel drive or something sexy like an Alfa, I can't imagine Europe would really like a rebadged Toyota.

Strange things said about my car? Well, for my Mk V Golf (Volkswagen Rabbit) the strangest thing I've heard is that... "It's a gay looking car." I don't get it.

Ooh! I love the interior but feel that the door panels needs a bit more detail.

I must say that although I am not a particularly big Pontiac fan, I feel that Pontiac should be GM's outlet for relatively affordable, fun ALL rear-drive cars. Although this won't happen, it's my two cents.

Well, if Chrysler's side is true, then I don't believe Getrag has any right expecting to reimbursed for their own failure, and furthermore, Chrysler should get to use the transmission regardless.

I really don't think that this would be the case unless Chrysler is in fact being totally shut down. These engines are already far along in development and it would certainly cost more in the long run to end a project so near completion rather than just going ahead and using it. These engines are supposedly some of the most advanced in the world, and would certainly help Chrysler out in a big way.

I was aware of AWD as an option but since the cars are not particularly desirable overall, I am not surprised that it wasn't a popular option on a decidedly un-popular car (Sebring/Avenger in particular).

Ignorant. I'm sorry I had to say it only for the aspect that Cadillac and Dodge aren't ment to be compared. Besides, these engines were developed in the early 1990's with an introduction in 1998. They're old and to be replaced by advanced V6's known as the Phoenix Engines. However, the point is that yes it has relatively poor fuel economy so if that's the argument then Avenger 2.7=27 mpg/Rabbit 2.5=29 mpg (and it's a compact sort of car remember)/Accord=29 mpg. If we are going to include the size of the car and type of engine, in this case V6's rated in the upper-20's, then why not compare the 2.5L I-5 rated upper-20's too and discuss how miserable that is in a smaller car with 5 cylinders, 170hp, and a manual only gets 29 mpg then. Because if a V6 Accord gets better mileage than a 5-pot VW Rabbit, then something seems cery wrong with all the statistics. Sorry. I was ranting. It just bothered me so I had to vent it. If Chrysler doesn't die as all of you hope it will then I am sure we'll see better things from them.

Sadly enough I would too I guess. However, I feel that Volkswagen could actually work wonders with Chrysler if they ran it as they do their other brands with "Top hat" Engineering. That could work very well and the cars would be great to drive, and according to what I've herd (and don't believe because of my good Chrysler experiences) the reliability of them couldn't possibly be any worse.

2008 Dodge Avenger at MSN Autos Well, overall it seems as though the cars aren't nearly as bad as portrayed! However, I am rather irritable at the fact they see an estimated 27 miles per gallon highway as horrible for a V6. Um, you know, my 5-cylinder Rabbit is only rated at 29 highway.

If this does happen, I have to say, may make me not buy another American car. Ridiculous? Sure but so is everything going on in the American automotive industry anyhow. If Chrysler goes, then I'll go for good too.

Technically, isn't Saturn getting the Opel Insignia? Although elsewhere has stated that it will feature different styling and interior, and if that's the case, what is the point to all of this? Buick most likely will NOT get the Insignia stateside because another brand will already have it and I don't think that Buick needs two Epsilon cars of the same size.

Bah. Ridiculous list. Even my VW is on there. My car isn't hated, it's just that Americans don't care for hatches even though the rest of the world recognizes their great packaging layout.
