Both? She squeaks a lot if I get rough with the stick.

I wasn't able to. Had to work all weekend unfortunately. I made it last year though.

Parking rules need to be changed, fuel efficiency increased in order to help the smart be more successful. Plus, the forfour that was cancelled would have been a much better propostition for the U.S. in so many ways.

Thanks all! She is quite the lil hottie and that *gasp* watercooled VW sharp too.
  5. (Thanks, work hates them!)

All this talk of horsepower, acceleration, and efficiency. I have to say, a 138hp Astra is enough because when you leave one car and go into another, you adapt to how it feels and drives. I'd rather have the 1.9L CDTi Astra with 150hp and those oodles of torque and amazing mileage, but we can't have it. After going from a ~214hp Monte Z34 (yes, the twin cam 3.4) to a 132 horsepower Plymouth Breeze with a 2.0L four and automatic took some getting used to, but it scuttled up to freeway speeds and over just fine. It's top speed was like, 120mph. I know. I got it there. Was it fast? Oh God no! By the numbers, I think it gets to 60 in around 12 seconds and it was noisy as all get out on the way there. (Think two metal garbage cans filled with screws and very angry bees being shaken all to hell.) But it worked for me well enough, and I could pass in comfortable passing situations when I needed to. The efficiency, though not great, was very good. I averaged around 27 mpg with my heavy foot, and the farthest I got on one tank (13 US gallons) of gasoline was 412 miles. Oh yes, although there was too much up and down movement in the suspension, it rode firmly but comfortably, and was fun to drive on curvy roads. Loved that wishbone front suspension.
  7. Alrighty. Sounds good to me too!

Oh yes, my mom has done a LOT for me. Unfortunately I'm rather cashless right now, so I only have nice, cheap words. *Sigh*

More Pics of Heather and (Me)! Whoo hoo! Us doing a grumpy pose.
  10. Metro Station- "Shake It" They are rather new I suppose. Heard this song played on a station and loved it.

  14. Since Renault isn't sold in the states anymore, I highly doubt U.S. drivers are going to be concerned about one being a "tarted up" another. Plus, if U.S. drivers gave a damn about "how a vehicle drives" then they wouldn't be piling into sport utilities, crossovers, and pickups, OR TOYOTA CAMRYs for that matter. At anyrate, Renault and Nissan both strike me as mainstream brands, so although the argument with the TT and the Golf is undeniable, Audi and Volkswagen are technically placed at different ends of the perceived image spectrum. Criticism levelled at TT's for driving like the sexed up, tarted up econoboxes they are is fine. I was so hoping it would not come to this but I guess that I have to explain to you that my origianl post stated only that I shouldn't give a flying "F" about the way it LOOKS because it won't be sold here as it appears/will appear. Our current Sentra's styling has been derided by at least one U.S. auto rag and for good reason, it looks dumpy. It drives soft. Even in SE-R Spec V trim. And it does share some architectural components with Renault and they are made on the same assemble line together. Now, when Renault dictates to Nissan how their cars will look and drive, then I will pay a little more attention. But only a little. I don't like Nissan. I said NOTHING about the architecture and how it will drive!
  15. IF it were up to the purists, and Porsche were only producing "real" Porsches (air cooled, rear engined, yadda yadda) then the company would have been extinct long ago.
  16. But Sir, I do not like Nissan! And, the Nissan model will have its own brand specific styling inside and out anyway. How this angry little French car looks has no bearing on how the Sentra will look. Although this is a bad comparison, it'd be almost like, Volkswagen Golf V and Audi TT MkII.
  17. I prefer the 2003 badge. The new Vauxhall badge seems a bit cold and industrial if more modern. As far as the um, "intense" discussion going on here, I have to say that if it was "so easy" for GM to eliminate Olds, then it would be just as easy for GM to eliminate any other redundancy/underperformer. P.S. We need our insiders/industry people!
  18. The front definitely needs a change. The current Megane looks fantastic, bobble butt aside. Then again, why should I care? They aren't going to be selling it here!
  19. The Camaro I feel could put the Challenger away if only for the sake of bringing up their respective platformmates- The G8 (Commodore) and the 300/Charger. I believe that it was in a Motor Trend issue, they compared the Charger with the G8, and the G8 walked out the winner, and the author(s) of the article stating that the Charger felt "old" Motor Trend
  20. WoW! Those headlamps do help out a lot!
  21. Very nice and a great choice. I considered the new Civic coupe due to its cab forward styling (thank you Chrysler!) but was a bit turned off by its spaceship interior design despite the nice materials and build quality, plus I do fit in it well. I haven't driven one of the new generation, but I have one of the previous, and it was a good little car. I turned down the Cobalt because I couldn't find a right fit for me in the driver's seat, really wanted an Astra but wasn't available at the time, so I got my 2008 Volkswagen Golf.

HEATHER'S INTREPID: Well, it's very smooth and sounds nice, but she wants to get rid of it. The prior owner didn't take care of it as well as they ought to have, so there is some body rot, dents, fogged/moisture filled headlamps, weather stripping falling out of the door frame surrounds, failed a/c, and other things so she would rather attain another vehicle rather than spend that money to fix it up. Heather finds her car to be a bit too big as well. BACK TO THE VW: The "1"? Hmm. I'll have to try that, but I haven't even noticed any MPG readouts at all regardless of what I do. The "box" between the tach and speedometer is only the half box with mileage, trip mileage, time, and temperature, and a snowflake symbol if it's cold enough out 39*F or lower, and if it was cold to start with, up to like 42*F. The Jettas I have been in and the GTI Golfs have the whole box with digital displays, and they include the compass and MPG readouts. P.S. When I get more pics of the Volkswagen, I'll post them up in the C&G Members Rides Showcase.

That's right! Take that Mercedes! We had swoopy four doors long before you came up with the contrived CLS!
  24. But is it not GMNA (the main GM) that ultimately decides such things? I was reading in an auto mag that Holden was once doing so poorly that GM was going to shut it down.

Oh yeah! Hah! I forgot Chrysler got jiggy with the options and packages. I always think 2.7L= base/SE, 3.2L=ES, and 3.5L=ES and R/T. It has I believe, around 110,000 miles on it. It's starting to burn oil. I've driven behind her and noticed the blue puffs under acceleration.
